  • Caring for your Pottery

    • Pottery does not like drastic temperature changes and will crack from thremal shock.
    • Do not place pottery from the refrigerator into a hot oven. This may cause cracking. Allow your dish to come to room temperature and place in a preheating oven.
    • Allow pottery to cool before placing in refrigerator or dishwasher.
    • Do not broil
    • Do not place on a stovetop burner.
    • Do not store in freezer.
    • Pottery can scratch furniture, cause water stains ot heat damaged if placed directly on furniture surface. To protect your furniture use cork or felt on the base of pottery and/or a trivet or tablecloth to protect furniture.
    • Do not leave pottery outdoors in winter – temperature fluctuations can crack pottery.
    • Some cutlery can leave marks on your pottery; remove marks with a gentle kitchen abrasive. I recommend using Bar Keeper’s Friend.
    • Handcrafted pottery will have variations in size, color & design, it is inherently imperfect. These characteristics are expected and treasured in handcrafted art.
    • Yes, your pottery piece will break if you drop it!
